What’s Up With the Lead-Free Flange Adapters?
At Red Hed Manufacturing, we always try to answer our customer’s questions before they’re asked, but on occasion, we’re able to go into great depth and detail about one of our high quality lead free water utility products. Because our lead-free flange adapters have received a great deal of interest and attention recently, we’ve produced a guide to help you discover more about these versatile adapters and their construction. Here’s a little bit of the information you’ll find available in this guide.
When we say lead-free, we’re not talking about a government definition that still allows lead in the fittings. Most government definitions of lead-free means that there is some small amount of lead allowed on the wettable surfaces or on areas where the lead would not come into contact with the water. This facilitates the machining process, as the lead acts as a lubricant and fills in voids in the metal. Our lead-free is actually lead-free, with no exceptions whatsoever, without compromising the quality of the machining. We meet and exceed NSF/ANSI 372 certification.
Many flange adapters are only available in a small range of sizes, but at Red Hed Manufacturing, we believe in providing you with as many options as are available in our production facility. For that reason, our lead-free flange adapters are available in an amazingly wide range of customized options to meet your needs, with over 200 thread options, inlet sizes from 5/8″ to 2″ and outlet sizes from 3/4″ to 2″ in compression or flare fittings. We would be very surprised if you can’t find a lead-free flange adapter that will meet your system requirements and we’re always willing to help you find the right component for your system.
In the past, you’ve had two options available for changing the flange adapter. You had to shut down the main to install a new flange, causing issues for your customers who are depending on that water supply for their home or business use. The only other option available would be to retap the main in order to install the flange adapter for the customer without shutting off service, but that required a lot of work and a much higher cost to get the job done. Our lead-free flange adapters allow you to shut off water to the corporation during installation without having to re-tap the main or shut the main down entirely, making it much easier to install without having to shut off water to other customers as the work is moving forward.
As you can see, there’s a lot of information available in our guide to help you find the perfect lead-free flange adapter to meet your water utility’s needs.
